ICT is 21th century most powerful
skill to make a different in students learning is tempered by the fact that
many students don't yet have access its tools, instruction strategies or
learning environment. All students need highly qualified, effective teachers
and regular reliable access to modern technology
ICT literacy is using digital
technology, communication tools and or networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate,
and crate information in order to function in a knowledge society. According it
definition we have pointed some matter:
Access- Knowing
about and knowing how to collect information
Manage- Appling
an existing organization or classification scheme
Integrate-
Representing information or summarizing
Evaluate- Making judgment
about quality, usefulness or efficiency of information
Crate-
Generating information by adopting, applying
Cognitive proficiency: - the
desired fundamental skills to everyday life at school, home, problem solving,
fundamental knowledge of hardware and software.
Technical proficiency:
- basic component of digital literacy include application and network
ICT
literate students master content faster, are batter problem solvers, became
more self- directed and assume greater control over learning. Beyond the
classroom, ICT literacy is essential for being productive citizen in a
knowledge-driven society and employers want to their employees to have skills.
AS a result, college and university administrators are beginning to require
them as competencies for graduation.
This focus has led to campus wide initiative to improve students, ICT
literacy.
Challenges
to designing and implementation effective ICT literacy instruction. First students
in higher education often believe themselves to be competent user of
information resource because of their daily interaction with the internet this
can lead to disinterest in learning skills to improve their use of search
engine and electronic research database. Second, the ease of transferring
between social and academic environment using the same technology, can case
disruption in classroom activities.
Finally,
without effective assessment it is difficult to know if instructional programed
are paying off are students ICT literacy skills improving who can be teaching
ICT literacy to accept the challenge and must be prepared to:
Ø Find the
strategy to reach the user who believe he/she is already proficient
Ø Make a
learning relevant to the users' needs including using the technologies the
students already know to anchor the learning in something familiar.
Ø Create
active learning opportunities to keep the students on test.
Ø Assume the
impact of instruction in students learning outcomes.
Ø Rural
area's school more than in Nepal to following regularly ICT literacy.
Ø Who used
traditional teaching methods these persons to convey \ motive to use ICT tools.
Ø ICT
literacy is modern teaching ways so, those students and parents to agree
\accept to use tools of ICT literacy.
